The recovery period after you take a chemical TCA peel normally depends on what type of peel was done and the depth of the peel. For all types of chemical TCA peels, it is very important to take care of your skin after the peel to enhance healing, make results last, avoid infection and prevent changes in color in the peeled areas which may be caused by sun rays. The care you do to your skin after the Aesthetic Master Care peel is not much different to the care you do before the peel.
Proper care may involve cleaning the skin most of the time with water or a special wash that may be recommended by your surgeon to use, change the wound dressing, moisturizing your skin every day and avoid any exposure to the sun until the peeling stops and use sunscreen daily. The new skin you form is more susceptible to damage caused by the sun. Some physicians may recommend the use of tretinoin cream every night usually after 2 to 3 weeks after the peel.
Superficial peels are mostly done on an outpatient basis. Here you do not require anesthesia and may bring minor discomfort afterwards. Majority, normally bounce back to their normal activities just after the chemical TCA peel. This is because the skin heals quicker after taking the superficial peel. The skin may sometimes turn pink and you are advised to use makeup to hide such redness until it disappears. Medium peels are also done on an outpatient basis but you need few days to fully recover. This type of peel causes the second degree skin burn.
